Munger police arrest cybercrime gang member
MUNGER: The Munger police on Wednesday arrested one Sandeep Shah alias Billu, member of an interstate cybercrime gang from Kolkata and brought him here on Thursday.SP Ashish Bharti on Thursday said chief of the Shiv Gurudham, Munger, Swami Anuraganand, had lodged an FIR with the Mufassil police station on July 19, against unknown persons for fraudulently withdrawing Rs 70,000 from his bank account with the SBI Main Branch, Munger. Swami Anuraganand had received a call on his mobile on July 19. The caller had introduced himself as branch manager of SBI and had asked him to furnish his Aadhaar number and ATM number to link up with his savings bank account. “Swamiji without verifying the authenticity of the call, furnished the details of his bank account,” said the SP. Soon after furnishing the details, Swamiji received an SMS alert on withdrawal of Rs 70,000 from his account. He soon lodged an FIR and police on getting the call details busted the gang. SHO Mufassil PS Rajiv Kumar was directed to investigate the case.“A police team rushed to Kolkata and raided the house of one Jai Kumar Sah, a cloth merchant of Naihati police station area in North 24 Pargana district of West Bengal and arrested his son Sandeep, ” said the SP.Sandeep disclosed that one Abhishek Kundu was the mastermind of this gang. Police then raided Abhishek’s hideout. He, however, managed to escape, the SP said and added that Munger police again will visit Kolkata and try to nab Abhishek.
